Choir director

Joël Hurard born in Verviers in a music lovers familly. He started at 7 studying the horn.

In 1980, he start his training as future music professional at the Conservatoire Royal de Musique de Liège where he will get the first prices in music theory, written harmony,counterpoint, fugue, practical harmony but he also gained the certificate of educational ability in teaching music.

In 1987, he is hired as teacher for music training and ensemble singing in the Music Academy of Saint Nicolas and Watermael-Boitsfort. In 1997 he takes over the direction of St Nicolas' Music Academy.

Human voice, choral singing are 2 domains that have always interested him. That is whyhe followed a 4 years training as choir director with Pierre Cao within the internationalcentre of Thoral Singing. During these 4 years he will meet in defferent Master Class some renowned person of choir direction such as Frieder Bernius, Eric Erickson, Bernard Fabre-Garrus and Michel Corboz.

Joël Hurard created the string ensemble Inventio and has been directing for 7 years a boys choir : Les Colibris from Liège with which he will, in 1996, go to Québec for an unforgettable tour.

From 2001 till 2007 he's member, as baryton, of the vocal ensemble Hexavoci .Actually he conducts the vocal ensemble Marignan and co-conducts with Eric Polet Imagin'Air.
